50 Cent

50 Cent

Name : 50 Cent
Birth Name : Curtis Jackson
Profession : musician
Date of Birth : July 6, 1976
Place of Birth : Queens, New York, New York, USA
Biography
The anticipation for 50 Cent’s album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, can be compared to that of debuts from Snoop Dogg (Doggystyle), Notorious B.I.G. (Ready To Die), Eminem’s (The Slim Shady LP), and Tupac’s post-incarceration, first Death Row Records release All Eyez On Me.

The excitement surrounding Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ was largely due to the announcement, in 2002, that 50 Cent (born Curtis Jackson) had tapped a $1 million recording deal with Eminem’s Shady Records, and Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records. The kings of hip-hop controversy were undoubtedly impressed with 50 Cents own fearless ways.
50 Cent first made waves on the hip-hop scene in 1999 when he released the song ‘How To Rob’ that took, painful, though hilarious, verbal shots at all the big names in rap. The song appeared on his unreleased debut album, Power Of A Dollar, that he recorded for Columbia Records. The Jam Master Jay protege’s rants about robbing hip-hop’s top acts did not go over too well with the likes of his lyrical victims Jay-Z, Big Pun, Sticky Fingaz, and Ghostface Killah, who all recorded responses.
In April 2000, before 50 Cent’s rap career began to flourish, he was shot nine times while in front of his grandmother’s house in Queens, New York, where he was raised. During his recovery, 50 Cent severed ties with Columbia Records, and began promoting himself via appearing on mixtapes.
Just before the summer of 2001, 50 Cent released independently, Guess Who’s Back?, with his crew G-Unit, further fueling his buzz. Eminem and Dr. Dre proclaimed their support of 50 Cent after he issued another independent record, a bootleg entitled 50 Cent Is The Future.
The momentum for Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ accelerated during the summer of 2002, when 50’s song ‘Wanksta,’ a dis to fake gangsta rappers, was released as a single from 8 Mile, the soundtrack from Eminem film. 50 also kept alive a beef with rapper Ja Rule.

Her musical skills had been honed since she began playing the piano at the age of six, and thus she began recording by the time she was ten. In 2000, Morissette made her big-screen debut in the role of roles — playing God — in Dogma. She, and her prominent long locks, would return to the role for the sequel Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back in 2001.

Ashlee Simpson

Ashlee Simpson

Name : Ashlee Simpson
Birth Name : Ashlee Nicole Simpson
Profession : Actress, Singer,Dancer
Date of Birth : October 3, 1984
Place of Birth : Dallas, Texas, USA
Height : 5′ 7%22
Biography
From dying her naturally blonde locks dark brown to adopting a more edgy and free-spirited style, Ashlee Simpson has successfully managed to emerge from the shadow of her superstar and Barbie-look-a-like sis, Jessica. And while following closely in the same career path as her famous sibling, the budding starlet has distinguished herself as a seasoned actress and promising recording artist within the Simpson clan.
Originally from a small town in Waco, Texas, it wasn?t long until Ashlee Simpson found her true-calling as a performer. Her natural forte as a dancer became apparent at the early age of 4, and at 11, Simpson was the youngest student admitted into the esteemed School of American Ballet. After only a few years of training, she began dancing professionally and jumped at the opportunity to dance back-up for her sister while on tour. Traveling the world and living life on the road left Ashlee with no doubt that performing was in her blood, and watching her sister?s rise to fame inspired her to make smart decisions about the start of her own career.

Strategically deciding not to immediately jump into Jessica?s established domain of music, young Simpson looked to other outlets that would nurture her dreams of becoming an eminent performer. After moving West to LA with her family, Simpson found a niche for acting as she landed her first small-screen bit as a high-school student in the Emmy-award winning series, ?Malcolm in the Middle?(2001). Soon after, the rising star was cast as a regular on the WB family drama ?Seventh Heaven,?playing Cecilia Smith from 2002-2004. While gaining notable visibility on TV, Simpson soon found herself on the big-screen, as she landed a small part in the hit comedy ?The Hot Chick?(2002) alongside well-known comedian Rob Schneider. With acting under her belt, Simpson made her move into music, as she recorded ?Just Let Me Cry?for the soundtrack of the Disney feature, ?Freaky Friday?(2003).

In late 2003, while older sister Jessica was enjoying new-found celebrity on her hit reality-show ?Newlyweds?(MTV, 2003 - ), Ashlee had signed her first recording contract with Geffen Records and was creatively advised by her father and manager, Joe Simpson, to also have a show based on the making of her upcoming album, Autobiography (2004). Reluctant at first, young Simpson soon agreed to the idea, which proved to be a smart move, as ?The Ashlee Simpson Show?(2004) enjoyed a huge following right from the start. With more than a month before the release of her record debut, Simpson?s first single ?Pieces of Me,?which was written about then-boyfriend Ryan Cabrera who was featured on the series, was already experiencing heavy radio-play. The popular show not only put Ashlee in the spotlight, but also helped to differentiate the fiery, tom-boy rocker from her bubblegum pop, singing-sensations sister. ?Autobiography?later hit stores in July 2004 and reached platinum, something even big sis Jessica had to date yet to accomplish.

Almost overnight, however, Simpson went from budding pop icon to national punch line. She made an appearance on ?Saturday Night Live?(NBC, 1975- ) where she began lip-syncing to the wrong guided vocal track. Caught in the act and unsure what to do next, Simpson did a weird jig-like dance, then walked offstage as her band continued to play. But instead of owning up to her folly, Simpson blamed her band members in the press following the embarrassment. When her explanation failed to convince skeptics, Simpson?s iron-fisted manager-father, Joe, stepped in and blamed a bout of acid reflux that had damaged her vocal chords, a seemingly weak excuse that only fanned the flames of outrage (despite the fact that a ‘60 Minutes’ segment filmed the week of Simpson’s appearance showed the singer tearfully leaving the rehearsal stage when her voice was not performing up to snuff). Some pundits tried to stand up for her, claiming that many artists use guided vocal tracks, but most in the media blasted the inexperienced performer for her lack of professionalism . Things went from bad to worse when she performed a badly off-key version of ?La La?at the Orange Bowl in January 2005. After subjecting 70,000 rabid beer-soaked football fans to her ear-splitting caterwauls, Simpson was treated to a hearty round of boos. None of her humiliations, however, affected album sales.

Though mostly laying low during 2005 after her debacles on ?Saturday Night Live?and at the Orange Bowl, Simpson showed up on ?American Top 40 Live?(Fox, 2005) and ?The 2005 Teen Choice Awards?(Fox, 2005). Both appearances came and went without a hitch. She then had her first major role in a feature film with ?Undiscovered?(2005), playing a young singer not unlike herself living in Los Angeles with a group of other wannabe singers looking to become famous. With all the negative reviews, ?Undiscovered?was poised to become the next ?Glitter.?However, the youngest Simpson sister rebounded somewhat with her return appearance to ‘Saturday Night Live’ in October 2005 in which she demonstrated that she could, indeed, sing live and unsweetened when she performed two songs from her 2005 album I Am Me, ‘Help Me When I Fall’ and ‘Beautifully Broken,’ both of which she wrote in response to the low period she experienced following the fiasco of her first ‘SNL’ experience.

Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne

Name : Avril Lavigne
Profession : Musician
Date of Birth : 27, Sep 1984
Place of Birth : Napanee, Ontario, Canada
Instruments : Guitar
Zodiac Sign : Libra
Biography
Anything but ordinary. That’s putting it mildly when describing Avril Lavigne. A skater-punk, a dynamic spirit, a true wild child. One of those rare creatures who started wowing people with her voice and character at around age 2. A small-town kid who couldn’t sit still in class but had the confidence and determination to take off, virtually on her own, to hone her songwriting skills in New York City and Los Angeles. A startlingly up-front and outrageous 17-year-old with everything it takes to reach stardom-completely on her own terms. ‘I’m just coming out and I’m going to clearly be myself-I write what I feel, I never worry what others think, ‘ Avril avows. ‘I’m gonna dress what’s me, I’m gonna act what’s me and I’m gonna sing what’s me.’
Avril does exactly that on her debut CD, Let Go, flaunting sassy vocals, a crystal clear voice with real-girl lyrical style. ‘Anything But Ordinary’ is a rockin’ ode to individuality, while guitar-driven first single, ‘Complicated,’ is a simple song that kicks pretenders to the curb. The string-inflected ‘I’m With You’ reaches out for connection to reflect Avril’s more mellower side, but tracks like ‘Losing Grip’ and ‘Unwanted’ courageously confront rejection and betrayal with all the heaviness such subjects demand. Then there’s ‘My World’ and the metaphoric ‘Mobile,’ which perfectly articulate the Avril experience. ‘I have this awesome opportunity to fulfill my dream. I am all over the place, flying here and there, going through different stuff every day,’ she explains. ‘This is my lifestyle, but I wouldn’t want a normal life or I’d get bored.’

Apparently, Avril was born for such insanity. A middle child who ‘always wanted to be the center of attention,’ she was bound to bust out of Napanee, Ontario, population 5,000. ‘I always knew this was what I had to do,’ she says. ‘I remember when I was really young, standing on my bed like it was a stage, singing at the top of my lungs and visualizing thousands of people surrounding me.’ She segued from her bedroom to singing, well, whenever and wherever she could-starting in church singing gospel music, and on to festivals, then singing country music at fairs and talent contests-until she was discovered by Arista Records.

On a writing trip to NYC, Avril caught the attention of Antonio ‘LA’ Reid, who snapped her up and signed her to Arista. At 16, she moved to Manhattan and began work on her debut CD. Avril plunged into the creative process. ‘I love writing,’ she explains. ‘When I get upset and really need to get it out of me I go to my guitar. Sometimes I feel like my guitar is my therapist.’

Although Avril virtually lived in the studio during that New York stint, her efforts didn’t pay off at first. ‘I started working with these really talented people, but I just wasn’t feeling it; the songs weren’t representative of me,’ she admits. ‘Then they started talking about having people write for me, but I had to write myself. I had to do my music. It was a really stressful time, but I never considered giving up.’ Instead, she flipped coasts. Los Angeles gave Avril the fresh start she needed.

It was there that she hooked up with producer/songwriter Clif Magness, and ‘I was like, ‘Yeah! I’ve found my guy!” she enthuses. ‘We totally clicked, because he just let me guide; he really understood me and let me do my thing.’ The songs for Let Go began pouring out, with Magness at the helm as well as up-and-coming production team the Matrix. Soon after Avril hooked up with Nettwerk Management who’ve steered the careers of Sarah McLachlan, Dido, Coldplay, Barenaked Ladies and Sum 41.

Avril couldn’t be happier with the way the album turned out. ‘In this past year I’ve really grown as a writer. ‘Complicated’ wasn’t written about anyone in particular. It is basically about life, people being fake and relationships.’ As to one of her favorite tracks, ‘Losing Grip,’ she says, ‘That is definitely one of my ex-boys-he didn’t give me what I needed emotionally.’ Avril laughs, ‘It doesn’t matter now, and plus I got a good song out of it.’

Now that her album is done, Avril can’t wait to get out and play. She jokes, pointing out that touring with her own sk8er punk band of rocker boys probably won’t be all that different from her childhood, ‘I was always a tomboy and I guess I still am. I played hockey during the fall /winter and baseball in the summer. I loved playing with the boys.

But Avril’s music is capable of reaching the girls and the guys, and more than a few adventurous adults too-and she’s chomping at the bit to bring it to ‘em. ‘I can’t wait to be out there; I want to rock the world! I want people to know that my music is real and honest -it came from my heart. I was just being true to myself.’

Avril’s real, all right. And ordinary? Anything but.

Atomic Kitten

Atomic Kitten

Band Name : Atomic Kitten
Members : Natasha Hamilton, Jenny Frost and Liz McClarnon
Biography
Popular group Atomic Kitten consists of Natasha Hamilton, Jenny Frost and Liz McClarnon — better known as Tash, Jenny and Lil. Kerry Katona was one of the group’s original members, but she left in order to make motherhood her full-time career, and was replaced by Jenny Frost in January 2001.
Natasha Hamilton hails from Kensington, Liverpool, and was born July 17, 1982. Naming Barry White among her favorite musicians, Tash also loves football, especially Liverpool FC, her native team.
history of the atom… kitten

Liz McClarnon was also born in Liverpool, on April 10, 1981. The brains of the bunch, she would have pursued a law degree if it weren’t for music. Also a huge football fan, her team of choice is Everton.

The newest addition to the trio, Jenny was friends with the Atomic Kitten girls while she was a member of her former group, Precious, of ‘Say It Again’ fame. Known as the clown, Jenny was born February 22, 1978, in Liverpool.

So how did Atomic Kitten come to be in the first place? Kerry Katona, one of the original pussycats, was a backup singer in a band near Liverpool, and wasn’t completely fulfilled — she knew she wanted a band of her own. She met Liz in 1998, and Natasha joined what is now known as Atomic Kitten, in 1999. The girls were inspired by the clothing label ‘Automatic Kitten’ and wanted to go by that name, but they later changed their band name to ‘Atomic Kitten.’

Kerry, Tash and Lil signed with Innocent Records in the summer of 1999 and blasted onto the scene with their hit single, ‘Right Now,’ off the album of the same name. Atomic Kitten quickly gained popularity and wide recognition in the UK, where their single ‘Something Spooky’ was being used as the theme song for the kid’s TV show Belfy Witches. They also had a sponsorship deal for a chocolate bar in Japan, where they were also a smash.

B2K

B2K

Band Name : B2K
Biography
B2K are a youthful, urban dance-pop sensation that broke into the mainstream with their debut single, ‘Uh Huh,’ in early 2002. Though the single’s success garnered much attention for their self-titled debut album, group members J-Boog, Raz-B, Lil’ Fizz, and Omarion were already mini-stars, having opened for Lil’ Bow Wow in the summer of 2001 and appeared in the young rapper’s video for the hit ‘Ghetto Girls’ (not to mention numerous teen magazine covers and TV shows). Since then, critics and fans have agreed that the industry hasn’t seen such hip-hop-dance talent as B2K since New Edition, Bel Biv Devoe, and Jagged Edge.
The four Los Angeles teens were discovered at an Epic Records showcase, where the flashy heartthrobs showed off their irresistible vocal harmonies and hip, complex dance routines that sucked Epic executives right in. Their debut album enlisted a roster of hot producers, including C. ‘Tricky’ Stewart (Blu Cantrell, Usher), who produced the smooth and magnetic single ‘Uh Huh,’ and Atlanta’s all-persuasive hitmaker Jermaine Dupri (Kriss Kross, Xscape, Da Brat, TLC, Mariah Carey, Lil’ Bow Wow), who tightened up the track ‘Last Boyfriend’ into a stylish hip-hop-meets-soul jam.

Later in 2002, B2K released two more albums: Pandemonium! (which also involved the work of hip-hop’s A-list producers, like P. Diddy and R. Kelly) and the holiday collection Santa Hooked Me Up. With their charming looks, rock-hard bods, urban-chic flair, and extraordinary performing and harmonizing skills, B2K are indeed the boys of the new millennium.
