Britney Spears: Back to TV this May

There have been all kinds of rumors and speculation as to when Britney Spears would be reprising her role on “How I Met Your Mother.” And now we know for sure.

According to an inside source, the “Gimme More” singer will be filming a new episode that will be airing on May 12th, to coincide with the network’s sweeps week.

Reportedly Britney is ecstatic, and feeling is mutual.  The show’s executive producer and co-creator Craig Thomas told press, “We’re all so thrilled to have Britney joining us once again.”

Then, on a personal note, he commented, “And just to head it off at the pass this time around: Yes, Mom, Britney’s very nice and no, I can’t get her autograph for you.”

Tom Cruise and the Kids Cheer On Beckham

While Suri has been the Cruise kid that’s been getting all the attention, there are two other children in Tom’s brood- Isabella (15) and Connor (13) whom he adopted with ex-wife Nicole Kidman.

And Papa Cruise was all about showing his older kids some love this past Saturday as he took them to see his friend David Beckham play some soccer.

As it turns out, the Cruises were a good luck charm, as Becks and the LA Galaxy boys beat CD Chivas USA 5-2 in a home match at the Home Depot Center in Carson City, California.

On a side note, the “Minority Report” stud will be returning to the Oprah Winfrey Show this Friday where, hopefully, he’ll refrain from any couch-jumping.

Miley Cyrus Photographer Thinks Portrait is “Beautiful”

With so much drama surrounding the Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair shoot, photographer Annie Leibovitz has finally piped in - offering her perspective on the controversial “topless” shot.

“I’m sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted,” Leibovitz said in a statement issued earlier today. “Miley and I looked at fashion photographs together and we discussed the picture in that context before we shot it. The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful.”

Of the “topless” photo, Miley immediately issued a statement to People magazine telling:  “My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy. For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed.”

Not to be left out of the press frenzy, a Vanity Fair spokeswoman told of the photo in question: “Miley’s parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley.”

Denise Richards: Back On the Mainland

Following a brief trip to Hawaii to work on her new reality show, Denise Richards made her return to Malibu after catching a flight out of Maui on Saturday.

After heading home and getting a good night’s sleep, the Starship Troopers actress was back in action - being trailed by the paparazzi during a Sunday afternoon outing.

Looking lovely in a flowing yellow sundress, Richards and a companion shopped for magazines before making the rounds at some local boutiques. Denise even took a moment to pet a passerby’s puppy - making for a picture perfect moment.

Despite controversy sparked by the ugly divorce with Charlie Sheen, the 27-year-old reality star in-the-making was smiling and relaxed on what ended up being a lazy day in the California sun.

Kim and Khloe Kardashian Get Fashionable

They’ve been having a blast during their little stint down under.  And Kim and Khloe Kardashian’s latest stop is Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.

Both looking fabulous, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” sisters definitely added a little American flair to the Aussie festivities as they mingled at the Ruth Tarvydas catwalk show in the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay, Sydney.

Kim kept things safe in a black, form-fitting strappy-back spaghetti strap dress complete with a pair of matching black peep-toe heels.

Meanwhile, Khloe added a dash of color to the evening in a sexy sequined aquamarine-colored dress with a pair of shoes that matched Kim’s.
 

Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan Visit TRL

Making a necessary stop in their promotional run, Michelle Monaghan and Patrick Dempsey were on hand at MTV studios to tape an episode on TRL today (April 28).

The duo are trying to boost box office sales for their new romantic comedy, Made of Honor, which hits theaters this Friday (May 2).

“Made of Honor” tells the story of “Tom and Hannah, who have been platonic friends for 10 years. He’s a serial dater, while she wants marriage but hasn’t found Mr. Right. Just as Tom is starting to think that he is relationship material after all, Hannah gets engaged. When she asks Tom to be her “maid” of honor, he reluctantly agrees just so he can attempt to stop the wedding and woo her.”

Talking about the upcoming release, Dempsey told press: “I’m very nervous about the movie coming out. It’s the first time I’ve had a movie coming out with my name above the title in a very long time. I hope people go see it and are satisfied with it, and will continue to come and see my stuff.”

But with his strong Grey’s Anatomy fan base, along with Michelle Monaghan’s beauty by his side, it would seem that Dr. McDreamy has nothing to be worried about.

Hilary and Haylie Duff Take Mike Comrie Shopping

It’s no secret that guys can be fashionably challenged.  So who better than Hilary and Haylie Duff to help Mike Comrie do a little shopping?

The New York Islanders stud was spotted with his “Lizzie Maguire” girlfriend and her sister as they gallivanted around New York City’s Meatpacking district yesterday.

Stopping into the designer boutique Scoop, the happy trio emerged with bags and smiles, eventually going their separate ways, with Haylie heading back to her hotel.

And just so you know, we’re keeping a close eye on the reports that Hilary was offered a role on the CW “Beverly Hills 90210” remake.  We’ll keep you posted on all the rumors that the “So Yesterday” singer may be getting a gig at West Beverly High.

George W. Bush Entertains His Celebrity Guests

The stars descended on Washington D.C. last night, there for US President George W Bush’s last White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

Among those in attendance were newly engaged couple Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz, along with reality show stars Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.

During the course of the evening, held at the Washington Hilton, the president said he “was surprised his potential successors were not in the audience before making jokes at their expense.”

Referring to Republican candidate John McCain’s absence, Bush said: “He probably wanted to distance himself from me.”

Poking fun at controversies surrounding the Democratic candidates’ campaigns, he said: “Hillary Clinton couldn’t get in because of sniper fire and Senator Obama’s at church.”

BBC reports tell: “He was referring to Mrs Clinton’s ‘mis-speak’ when she erroneously claimed she faced sniper fire on a trip to Bosnia in the 1990s; and Mr Obama’s pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, who criticized America in fiery sermons.”

To end the evening, Bush conducted the US Marine band in a medley of patriotic marches, as the Jonas Brothers, Pamela Anderson and Miss USA cheerfully looked on.

Britney Spears: Reason Behind Jamie-Lynn’s Therapy?

Carrying her trusty ‘ol cigarettes and a can of Coca-Cola, Britney Spears was guided out of a Hollywood recording studio by her parental-appointed bodyguard on Saturday (April 26).

The Gimme More singer was decked out in a baby blue outfit overtop a magenta bikini - looking ready for a trip to the beach.

In related news, Brit’s little sister Jamie Lynn Spears is getting closer to her June due date and “the pregnant 17-year-old is seeking the advice of a life coach near her Kentwood, La., home to deal with her difficult situation,” reports In Touch Weekly.

“Her sister, Britney, changed for the worse as soon as she had children,” a pal told, noting that Britney was rumored to be suffering from postpartum depression after the birth of her two sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston.  “Jamie Lynn’s terrified the same thing will happen to her.”

Christina Ricci Premieres “Speed Racer”

The stars were out in Los Angeles last night, attending the world premiere of “Speed Racer” at the Nokia Theatre.

Among those hitting the red carpet were the movie’s star Christina Ricci, along with fellow Tinseltown hotties Emmy Rossum and Minka Kelly.

And with talks of a sequel already prevalent, Superhero Hype! spoke with the Miss Ricci about what she would like to see her character do the next time around.

“I would like her to do more action-y things because I had fun being out there. That was fun stuff,” Ricci said.

Talking about working on the “Speed Racer” set, Christina told: “Larry and Andy Wachowski (the film’s directors) created a world that they love and created characters that they loved and are attached to. When we were all leaving, we were like ‘write the sequel!’ ‘We want to come back’. And they were like, ‘I know. I know. We’re going to. Don’t worry’. They were as sad for it to be over as we were.”

After being asked if the sequel would be started soon, Ricci enthusiastically replied: “Yeah, definitely. Yes, that’s definitely the impression I got.”

“Speed Racer” makes its way into theaters on May 9th.
